Iconic Resourcing Accountancy & Finance Division are proud to be partnering with one of our well-established and highly reputable Investment Management clients as they seek to grow their Finance department in appointing a Accounting Analyst on a 12-month fixed-term contract within their Edinburgh Head Office. Established over 100 years ago and headquartered in Scotland, they have seen consistently strong year-on-year growth.
Reporting into the Expenditure Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the efficient management of expenditure, general ledger accounting, intercompany transactions, and income and cash management functions. This includes providing support for the implementation of the new purchase-to-pay system and Firm-wide processes. Key areas of the role will surround:
• Collaborate closely with the Expenditure Team Lead to implement robust period-end closure procedures.
• Ensure that commentary provided for analysis is both clear and relevant.
• Review and prepare actual expenditure figures for month-end and quarter-end, including all postings and PPMTS/accruals.
• Maintain technical proficiency and ensure that expenditures are accurately reflected in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Prepare and review reconciliations of trade creditors to sub-ledgers, ensuring accurate allocations.
• Guarantee the completeness of daily income reviews and compliance with all client money reporting requirements.
• Prepare process documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and utilize these materials for knowledge-sharing sessions with teams to facilitate ongoing development.
• Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to implement solutions.
• Assist with monthly input and output VAT reconciliations.
• Establish a robust expense reimbursement process that maintains thorough verification and challenges business justifications for travel and related expenses.
• Assist in maintaining asset records and managing asset accounting, including depreciation, tagging, and reconciliation.
• Continually enhance our understanding and utilization of the systems we employ, actively seeking opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the purchase-to-pay process, ensuring timely processing, support for both the business and suppliers, and the proper maintenance of the accounts payable system, including approvers and mapping.
• Provide support to stakeholders through various channels, including email, telephone, and in-person interactions.
• Apply accounting and domain expertise to develop accounting treatments.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting cycle expenditure processes.
• Facilitate the setup of new suppliers.
To be successful in this position, the following experience is required:
- Strong experience within an AP processing role
- Experience within Finance/ Investment sector would be desirable, but not essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work to minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
