The role will be based in their state of the art Glasgow city centre offices on a hybrid basis and sit within the recently restructured and growing Real Estate team, known for their expertise in the field, extensive international client list and lead by recently appointed and innovative Partner Brian Hutcheson.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone NQ – 4 years PQE, to work with a large and experienced team who they can learn from and who wishes to continue to expand their knowledge and gain experience working for Scottish clients internationally, for a global firm with a demonstrable history of success. Dentons are also willing to consider candidates who have qualified into other areas of law but have a passion for real estate and would like to diversify their skillset into this practice area.
The role of Associate is an integral part of the Real Estate team and will involve advising clients from the outset, on a wide variety of high profile and high value domestic and international real estate transactions. The quality of work on offer will be varied and interesting and will allow for unique opportunities of exposure.
You will have access to a large delivery team of professional support lawyers, paralegals and support staff to utilise in assisting you to complete tasks timeously, thus allowing you to focus on the client contact and interesting or exciting parts of the role. Having access to this level of support frees your time and this together with a reduced and highly achievable billable hours target, really does allows for the elusive work life balance we are all searching. You will also be issued with your own business development fund which can be spend as you see fit with client entertainment and relationship building.
The Duties and Responsibilities
You will undertake a broad and varied range of real estate work ensuring the workload is always varied and interesting, however general duties will include
- Carry out client instructions, co-ordinating and liaising with other solicitors and teams as required
- Draft documents and supply correspondence to client and other solicitors in a timely manner
- Proven ability working in real estate with experience of sale/purchase transactions as well as leasing and portfolio management
- Apply own legal initiative as a valued team member
- Communicate effectively with colleagues whilst handling cross divisional matters
- Maintain, build and strengthen client relationships whilst providing best practice solutions for their needs
- Demonstrate effectively handling a busy caseload whilst maintaining client relations
- Meet all deadlines and comply with all company procedures
- Have the ability to work automatously whilst being an effective part of a wider team
