Chief Technology / Information Officer - Glasgow

Build the digital engine behind one of the UK’s most ambitious subscription growth stories.

Most CIO roles ask you to run technology - This one asks you to reshape how a £150m & 1,700 head count business grows.

This is a highly profitable, family-owned British success story delivering to over half a million customers each week. With deep roots in FMCG, farming and logistics, the business is now evolving toward a digital-first, subscription-led model and investing heavily to get there.

This is a newly created board-facing role, designed to put technology, data and digital at the heart of commercial growth.

The Opportunity

You will act as the architect & catalyst of the next phase, helping transition from a traditional route-to-market to a digitally driven, recurring revenue platform.

The business is already acquiring ~8,000 customers per week through traditional channels vs ~1,000 digitally.

Your mandate is clear: flip that model and enable digital to scale into the growth engine.

What You Will Own

Digital Growth & Commercial Impact

  • Scale digital acquisition and optimise conversion.
  • Build subscription, pricing, and personalisation capability.
  • Drive improvements in LTV, CAC, and basket economics.
  • Partner closely with Commercial, Marketing and Leadership team.

Transformation & Platform Modernisation

  • Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation programmes.
  • Modernise core platforms (ERP, CRM, billing, data).
  • Reduce technical debt and enable scalable architecture.
  • Increase automation across logistics and operations.

Data & Insight

  • Create a single customer and operational data view.
  • Shift the business toward real-time, predictive decision making.
  • Elevate data maturity to board-level decision support.

Cyber Security & Governance

  • Own cyber and information security strategy (ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Implement “security by design” across platforms.
  • Provide clear, board-level reporting on risk and resilience.

Leadership & Culture

  • Build and lead a multi-disciplinary function (Digital, IT, Data).
  • Embed a product-led, agile, outcome-focused culture.
  • Drive adoption across a business still early in its digital journey.

The Environment

  • £150m turnover, 1,650 employees.
  • National logistics footprint.
  • Financially robust & cash-generative business.
  • Significant investment underway.
  • Entrepreneurial, fast-paced, family-led decision making.

You will work directly with an engaged and ambitious leadership team, including individuals from major FMCG & Logistics operators.

What We’re Looking For

You’re likely:

  • A current CIO / CTO or a standout Head of Technology / Digital Director stepping up.
  • Proven in scaling digital revenue and customer experience.
  • Experienced in subscription, D2C, or high-frequency consumer models.
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on delivery with board-level influence.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong commercial instinct, not just technical depth.
  • Experience with platform scaling (cloud, data, ERP, billing).
  • A track record of leading transformation in evolving organisations.
  • The ability to bring people with you through change, especially in a traditional family led business.

Why This Role

  • Greenfield CT/IO role with full mandate and influence.
  • Opportunity to define the digital strategy from the ground up.
  • Direct impact on growth, valuation and future scale.

A rare blend of:

  • FMCG heritage.
  • Subscription ambition.
  • Real operational complexity.

This is not a corporate environment.

It’s a business where you can move quickly, shape outcomes and see the results of your work daily.

Package

  • £140,000 plus, dependant on experience.
  • Up to 20% bonus.
  • Additional benefits + salary sacrifice options.

Final Thought

This role is for a builder, not a maintainer.

Someone who can take a successful, traditional business and turn it into a digitally led subscription powerhouse, without losing what made it great in the first place.
