Our client a leading law firm is seeking a dedicated Solicitor to join their Regulation and Markets team. This team is renowned for advising on some of the most intriguing, complex, and varied regulatory issues in the UK, blending public law, competition law, and commercial expertise.
The ideal candidate will be a high-performing solicitor with experience in public law, competition law, and/or regulated utility work. Enthusiastic candidates with a keen interest in developing a career in this area, even without prior direct experience, are encouraged to apply. Our client is seeking a dynamic lawyer eager to take responsibility and initiative in a client-facing role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering solutions-focused, high-quality, timely, and succinct legal advice.
- Leading on complex matters with appropriate guidance and support from senior colleagues.
- Working across a variety of disciplines with a focus on energy regulation, competition law, subsidy control, public and administrative law, procurement, and FDI.
- Engaging in the cutting edge of regulatory developments in the UK, particularly in clean energy and utilities.
- Supporting clients in achieving the UK’s net zero and decarbonisation goals.
Candidate Profile:
- Scottish Qualified Solicitor.
- PQE: 0-4years.
- Experience working in a similar legal area.
- Strong legal research skills.
- Exceptional time management and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.

- Advising utility networks on complex price control matters.
- Working on major generation and transmission projects, such as offshore wind farms.

- Advising on innovative energy sector developments, including hydrogen and CCUS.
- Representing clients in EU Commission investigations for alleged price fixing.
- Defending multi-million-pound claims in the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
- Advising on merger control proceedings before the CMA.
- Applying the UK’s subsidy control regime for both public authorities and private sector grant recipients.
- Navigating investment clearances under the National Security and Investment Act.
