The Role
Iconic Resourcing Accountancy and Finance is delighted to be supporting our well-established client with a new Controls and Compliance Manager opportunity in Glasgow City Centre. This role is full-time and permanent and will report into the Head of Quality Assurance and Reporting. The Controls & Compliance Manager plays a vital part in managing governance and regulatory compliance in the department as well as developing, reviewing and testing controls across the function.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and embed comprehensive control frameworks across the financial function.
- Lead the review and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure appropriate process documentation.
- Oversee the SOX and SOP review process in the department, recording non-adherence and addressing failings with management.
- Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) checks, including assessments of departmental files and process efficiency reviews.
- Support the business in identifying and controlling risks, and assessing the effectiveness of remedial actions.
- Evaluate the control frameworks of acquired businesses and implement countermeasures to address alignment issues.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish mechanisms for managing financial risks and regulatory changes.
- Identify and assist with continuous development of departmental processes and procedures.
- Facilitate operational audits, evaluate findings, and execute recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Report compliance results within Finance dashboards, coordinate offshoring operations, produce ad-hoc reports, and conduct team performance evaluations.
Personal Specification
- Accountancy Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ICAS)
- SOX knowledge
- Controls and compliance experience
- Audit background
- Professional Services Background
- Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritise and adhere to challenging deadlines
