Finance Analyst
The Wise Group
Glasgow (Remote First) | £32,000 - £35,000 + excellent benefits
Summary
Iconic Resourcing has been retained exclusively by The Wise Group to find a Finance Analyst ready to grow their commercial finance career inside one of Scotland's most respected social enterprises. Working closely with the Finance Manager - Commercial & Performance, you'll help the organisation understand what's really happening across its services, contracts and new opportunities - turning financial and operational information into useful insight, and getting beneath the numbers to explore why, not just what.
Responsibilities
- Support the annual budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes
- Produce detailed analysis of contract and service financial performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities
- Support the monthly management reporting cycle, explaining the key drivers behind performance
- Develop and maintain financial models for new opportunities, pricing, bids and commercial decisions
- Test financial assumptions and run sensitivity, scenario and what-if analysis
- Support business cases, options appraisals and financial assessment of strategic investments
- Track investment, contract and commercial performance against agreed assumptions and outcomes
- Work with Data & Insights colleagues to improve dashboards, reporting and use of financial information
- Investigate anomalies, data issues and unexpected movements with relevant colleagues
- Build a strong working understanding of the enterprise's services, contracts and funding models
Person Specification
- Part-qualified, or equivalent practical experience — CIMA/ACCA study support available
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, comfortable working with large amounts of information
- Confident using Excel, with an interest in developing financial modelling skills
- Naturally inquisitive — asks questions and tests assumptions when the numbers don't tell the expected story
- Able to turn complex information into clear, useful analysis for non-finance colleagues
- Good communication and relationship-building skills across Finance, Data & Insights, Commercial & Partnerships and Service Delivery
- Organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable with incomplete information
- Potential over polish — The Wise Group is as interested in where you can go as where you've been
Why this one's different
This is a genuine development role inside a finance function that's actively building capability, not just filling a seat. You'll learn commercial finance in an environment where the outcomes matter — every model you build and every insight you surface plays into real support for people facing poverty, homelessness or the challenges of leaving prison. Combine that with Remote First flexibility and a benefits package designed around wellbeing, and it's a strong first (or next) step in a finance career.
