Iconic Resourcing are delighted to be partnering with our hugely successful emerging SME client, within the FMCG sector. As they embark on the next exciting phase of growth, they are looking to recruit a high performing and ambitious Financial Controller (Commercial & Operations), who will have key responsibility for managing best practice across finance, commercial and operations functions.
You will work closely with both Managing Director and Commercial Director through this important stage of growth, whilst also managing the day to day operations and ensuring appropriate governance and controls are in place. Additionally, you'll be able to demonstrate excellent business partnering skills as you work with key functions across Logistics, Supply Chain, IT and HR.
The business is continuing to grow and there will be significant investment in ensuring the business has the right structure and model to support this growth. Currently the business is undergoing various upgrades and you will be expected to be a key contributor on these programmes of improvement.
Core elements of responsibility:
- Finance leadership - manage day to day finance operations, ensuring working capital is balanced that maximises all opportunities. Deliver 'best in standard' service to all stakeholders
- Financial/Management reporting - management accounts with commentary and targeted MI to the Group
- Financial control and governance - monitor, develop and improve the financial control framework ensuring this is robust and fit for purpose. Oversight of annual audit process and ensure compliance for regulatory and statutory information
- Tax - ensure all tax compliance is delivered. Planning and strategy around corporate structuring
- Business Planning - deliver annual business plan, budgeting and rolling forecast process. Prepare capital investment business cases. Assist with business plans and opportunities
- Risk Management - maintain fit for purpose internal control framework and establish risk registers in the business
- Operational - assist MD and take ownership in various activities that arise across day to day operations. Management of strategic issues. Also, from time to time oversee other business functions when required
- Commercial - work closely with MD and Commercial Director to drive financial performance to ensure company objectives are met. Contribute to ongoing commercial and operational decision making. Fully analyse company and wider industry to improve process, performance and profitability
This is a number 2 role to the Managing Director, will have good clear decision making responsibility within the role, whilst also providing clear financial, commercial and operational information both to MD and to Group on future growth and performance of the business.
This will suit an ambitious accountant, who has performed well in a fast-paced commercial working environment. You will be qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), ideally have experience in FMCG/Manufacturing, Retail or Distribution, however any strong demonstrable experience in a Commercial and Operational role will be considered. Additionally, if you have had experience of working with bank or alternative finance providers, this will be advantageous. Finally, you will also possess strong analytical skills, particularly MS Excel, PowerBI and other MI tools.
The role is initially office based, as there is a need to fully understand the business, there maybe an option to offer flexible working after a period of 3-4 months. There is a highly competitive salary on offer with highly achievable company Bonus, good Pension, with other attractive benefits.
