Head of Finance
Prestwick Aerosystems
Significant package including car allowance, bonus and benefits
Help shape the next chapter of a major Airbus aerostructures business
Aerostructures for some of the world’s best-known commercial aircraft are made in Ayrshire, and now the most senior finance role on the site is open.
Prestwick Aerosystems makes wing structures for Airbus aircraft flown around the world. With roots going back to 1935, the site is now part of the Airbus family while remaining an independent business. Around 97% of its output is for Airbus, and Airbus has aircraft on order years into the future. The site is in a period of transformation, with approved capital investment in its factories, equipment and facilities.
As Head of Finance, you will sit on the executive leadership team and report to the General Manager, with a dotted line to Airbus finance. This is a business leadership role as much as a finance one. You’ll be at the heart of the drive for greater cost competitiveness and stronger margins, working closely with operations, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Provide strategic financial leadership and constructive challenge to the executive team, partnering with the General Manager to drive profitable growth
-
Lead business planning, annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting
-
Own monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, including submissions into Airbus for consolidation
-
Maintain strong financial controls, governance and risk management, working with auditors, banks and external advisors
-
Oversee cash flow, working capital and statutory accounts
-
Support cost reduction and efficiency initiatives, as well as pricing, bid reviews and contract negotiations
-
Monitor programme profitability and contract performance
-
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality to improve business performance
-
Oversee a significant capital investment programme and, when appropriate, evaluate M&A and partnership opportunities
-
Lead and develop the finance function, with 3 direct reports (including the Head of Digital) and a wider team of around 20
Previous Experience
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with senior finance leadership experience at Head of Finance, Finance Director or Financial Controller level. You’ll have a strong track record in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally within a larger international organisation, and you’ll have led and developed a sizeable team that includes senior managers. You’ll bring demonstrable success in driving cost reduction and margin improvement, along with proven capability in planning, forecasting and annual budgeting.
Experience of overseeing a significant capital investment programme, and of reporting into a wider group, will serve you well, as will familiarity with SAP (S/4HANA experience is a bonus).
Just as important is how you work. You’re commercially astute, grounded and approachable, with a genuine talent for working with people. You have the presence and credibility to be the finance focal with Airbus leadership and the Prestwick Aerosystems board of directors, the willingness to challenge constructively, and the influencing skills to build strong relationships across the leadership team. M&A or transformation experience would be a plus.
