Head of HR & Support Services – Interim

Full Time, Interim (circa 8 months)
£55,000 - £65,000 DOE
Iconic Resourcing are working with a public sector organisation to recruit a Head of HR & Support Services to join on an interim basis to ensure the professional delivery of all aspects of core HR services and projects, IT provision and office operations and procedures.
The role operates at both a strategic and operational level within HR, having overall responsibility for HR strategy as well as the day to day operations of the HR function. In addition to HR, the role will oversee the operations of the IT team and the Office & Business Support team.
Day to day, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership in HR and develop the HR function to support the delivery of corporate and business plans
- Manage and develop the HR Coordinator, IT Manager and Office & Business Support Manager working closely on all aspects of the HR service delivery, IT provision and Office operations and procedures
- Develop and implement an annual plan for the business, ensuring they need the needs going forward, but are also flexible enough to cope with changes in the organisation as and when they occur
- To plan and deliver HR and organisational development projects, under the direction of the leadership team
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and key external contacts across HR, IT and Business Support
- Provide advice to managers in managing employee relations in line with employment law and best practice including disciplinaries, absenteeism, grievance, redundancy and retirement
- Develop employee engagement interventions to support the outcomes from employee opinion surveys
- Lead in the development, implementation and review of the annual organisational Learning and Development Plan as well as HR policies and processes in line with best practice and current legislation
- Ensure an effective performance management system is in place and manage the overall process to enhance overall organisational performance
- Manage the HR System, including payroll aspects and provide regular MI reporting on HR metrics.
- Participate as a member of the Corporate Services Team by contributing to decision making and developments to support both the Leadership Team and staff
- Provide leadership and support to groups to enhance wellbeing and social responsibility within the organisation e.g. Wellbeing Group and Social Impact Group
The successful candidate will need to display excellent leadership abilities to establish themselves as the line manager. Being able to build and maintain trust within the team and gaining the respect/confidence of the wider business will be key.
The HR element of the role spans all aspects of HR management including recruitment, L&D, reward, employee relations, organisational design and organisational development and requires the role holder to balance developmental project work with day to day demands of a generalist function.
