Are you a strategic leader with a passion for learning, knowledge and professional development? We’re working with a leading professional services firm to recruit a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Knowledge & Learning. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape and drive the firm’s knowledge and learning strategy at a senior level.

 

Based in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, or Glasgow, this high-impact role will sit at the heart of the firm’s strategic growth and talent development. You’ll oversee and align knowledge management and learning initiatives across legal and business services teams, ensuring the continued development of high-performing, client-focused professionals.

 

While this role is well-suited to a senior qualified lawyer, the firm is also open to individuals from a robust HR or L&D background, provided they bring significant experience within a law firm environment and a clear understanding of its structure, stakeholder landscape, and client service ethos.

 

As Head of Knowledge & Learning, you’ll:

  • Lead the strategic direction of knowledge and learning across the firm, ensuring alignment with business goals and legal excellence.
  • Oversee a team of Knowledge & Development Lawyers (KDLs) embedded within individual divisions, as well as the central Learning & Development Advisor (based within HR), ensuring joined-up delivery of key initiatives.
  • Take ownership of firmwide learning programmes, including legal and softer skills training, people management, and business development capability.
  • Help shape the future of the firm’s trainee development, delivering programmes that build both technical ability and commercial awareness.
  • Act as a connector across the business – working closely with lawyers, HR, BD, IT, and client-facing teams to embed a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Continue to build on a strong existing foundation shaped by a previous post-holder, while also bringing your own passion, energy, and ideas to evolve the function.

 

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Either a background as a qualified lawyer or significant L&D/HR experience in a law firm environment.
  • Proven experience of delivering knowledge management or professional development strategies.
  • A natural ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, with a passion for developing people at every level.
  • The drive to generate ideas and shape new approaches – someone who is confident, forward-thinking, and empowered to make decisions.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to align multiple functions and individuals around a shared vision.
