The Opportunity
We're looking for a Health & Safety professional who can influence behaviours, build relationships and help create a culture where everyone takes personal ownership of safety. Supporting the Livingston and Grangemouth sites, you'll work closely with managers, supervisors and operational teams to embed behavioural safety principles and promote a proactive approach to health and safety.
You'll act as a trusted advisor to the business, providing practical guidance, coaching leaders and staff, challenging unsafe behaviours where necessary and helping create an environment where people are empowered to make safer decisions every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a proactive behavioural safety culture across multiple sites.
- Promote personal accountability for health and safety at all levels.
- Lead behavioural safety initiatives, observations and interventions.
- Coach and influence across the workforce to demonstrate visible safety leadership.
- Encourage employee engagement and participation in safety improvement activities.
- Develop and deliver health & safety training programmes.
- Support compliance with UK health & safety legislation and company standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and support the creation of safe systems of work.
- Undertake audits, inspections and safety tours.
- Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Identify root causes and implement practical corrective actions.
- Monitor contractor activities and safe contractor management processes.
- Maintain accurate health & safety records and performance metrics.
About You
We're looking for someone with the confidence and credibility to engage people at every level of the business. You'll be a strong communicator who can challenge constructively, build trust quickly and influence positive behavioural change within operational environments.
You'll likely have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate and/or IOSH Membership (NEBOSH diploma preferred)
- 3-5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including HASAWA, COSHH and RIDDOR.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
- Experience delivering training and coaching colleagues.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Demonstrate a highly visible and influential leadership presence, quickly establishing credibility and positively shaping the working environment, behaviours and H&S culture
Experience within manufacturing, timber, construction materials, engineering, aggregates, heavy industry, agriculture or similar operational sectors would be highly advantageous.
