HR Advisor – 12 month FTC

£33,000 - £38,000 plus excellent holidays and pension
Iconic Resourcing HR are working with a civil service organisation who are looking to recruit an HR Advisor to join them on a 12 month FTC, covering a period of maternity leave.
Working as part of a team of HR Business Advisers the overall purpose is to provide accurate advice to employees on employment matters in line with policies and procedures. You will have a coaching style approach with managers that will promote and maintain the organisations flexible HR advisory service, in particular supporting interpretation of employment law and organisational policies and procedures on key employment matters. Your knowledge and expertise will enable you also to contribute to maintaining policies ensuring they are up to date and fit for purpose.
Day to day you will:
- Coach, support and advise Manager on people management matters, including those of a complex nature. This will include cases relating to employee performance, capability and conduct, employee attendance and health referrals as well as grievances and employee disputes.
- Provide support and participate in disciplinary hearings as a panel member.
- Deliver and/or facilitate workshops to develop and update managers on people management developments, projects and initiatives.
- Support the HR Unit in wider activities, for example, HR Projects that feature in the HR Business Plan, Recruitment and Resourcing where you may be required to participate as a recruitment panel member and Job Evaluation (full training will be provided).
- Contribute positively to the overall value of the HR unit to identify improvements and efficiencies so that policies, systems and processes are intuitive and effective.
- Work on the development/revision of employment policies/guidance in line with the HR policy review schedule, employment law and best practice
We are seeking applications from candidates who have strong employee relations casework experience. You will assume responsibility for a certain business area, equating to circa 500 employees and therefore you will have a proven track record of being able to coach, support and advise at all levels. Unionised experience would be advantageous but not essential. Public sector experience would also be preferred.
