Iconic Resourcing is delighted to partner with Glasgow Prestwick Airport who are seeking a Management Accountant to play a vital role within their Finance Department. This is a newly created role, the breadth of which will span across their multi-channel business and will require a candidate who can demonstrate strong technical accounting skills and an eagerness to maintain and improve robust financial controls, processes and procedures as they support the business through a transformational stage of their evolution.
The Organisation
Based on the beautiful coastline of South Ayrshire in the West of Scotland, 30 miles south west of Glasgow, Glasgow Prestwick Airport began life around 1934 serving primarily as a training airfield. The team is supported by 290 staff who work across areas including business support, passenger handling, cargo, air traffic control, compliance, fire services and a number of other areas. The airport was purchased by the Scottish Government in 2013 to safeguard a strategic infrastructure asset and runs as a commercial business with the team leading the day to day running of the airport with the view of returning it to a position of profit and long term sustainability.
The Role:
- Lead the preparation of the monthly management accounts within timely deadlines – profit and loss accounts, balance sheet, reconciliations, cash flow, variance analysis and commentaries
- Lead capital investment appraisal and project reporting
- Interpreting and delivering financial data to non-financial managers.
- Lead cross company engagement with operational, commercial and other key budget holders to understand expenditure variances
- Support the further development of functionality and management information from our ERP system
- Support the development of new cross company KPI’s with variance analysis and commentary
- Support the enhancement of key financial reporting models including management accounts, budget/forecasting models
- Support the Financial Controller with the annual budgets and rolling forecasts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Capital expenditure schedules
- Support with statutory audits and annual tax computations
- Provide cover across Finance functions during leave/absence
- Deputise for Financial Controller when required
- Promote a continuous improvement approach to business processes, implementing positive change and support the business in delivery of its strategic objectives.
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate for this role must have a desire to work collaboratively in a team, engaging with other colleagues across the organisation and managing changing priorities in a sometimes-ambiguous environment. Energy, good people skills and focus on performance delivery will be essential.
Key skills, knowledge and experience required include:
- Be CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified and with substantial experience in a management accounts role
- High levels of proficiency in excel, analysing vast quantities of data across multiple data sources.
- Support in the enhancement, development, and delivery of FP&A within the organisation
- Have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Be a curious mind who is fundamentally interested in leveraging value from business data
- Come with a strong commercial acumen and an understanding of key business drivers
- Be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Advanced Excel skills, experience of Power Pivot, Power Query and building MI dashboards would be a distinct advantage
- Self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to get out from behind the desk and engage with key stakeholders
- Flexible and able to work on a variety of ad hoc projects
- Ability to explain financial metrics/concepts to other functional managers
- Strong organisational skills
