Role: We are working on a fantastic opportunity to join a leading medical negligence team, led by an Accredited Specialist in Medical Negligence and is widely acknowledged as a leading firm in this area of law. The caseload, valued in multi-million pounds, encompasses a spectrum from birth injuries to fatal cases, offering some of the most intriguing and demanding legal work in Scotland. The firms clientele ranges from individuals to esteemed healthcare-related entities, ensuring a diverse array of cases including public inquiries, appeals, judicial reviews, and personal injury claims, notably encompassing Long Covid related claims.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled litigator with a profound understanding of complex medical negligence/personal injury cases and robust advocacy skills. This role primarily involves independent work on an existing caseload, advancing medical negligence and personal injury claims, as well as initiating investigations into new claims. Additionally, there is a crucial aspect of oral advocacy to represent clients at tribunal, panel, and committee hearings pertinent to professional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehend the specialist practice areas of the team and all relevant court procedures.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and technological acumen to develop and progress a dynamic caseload.
- Work autonomously while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Deliver exceptional client service and foster client relationships.
- Achieve agreed fee earning/chargeable hours targets while exhibiting a keen understanding of financial management and commercial awareness.
- Identify and effectively manage risks in your work.
- Contribute to firm management through strategic participation.
- Represent the firm and nurture client/referral relationships to generate business.
- Identify and capitalize on business development and cross-selling opportunities.
- Enhance technical skills and consolidate managerial/business acumen.
- Efficiently manage, supervise, and develop team members proactively.
Candidate Requirements:
- Scottish qualified solicitor, with approximately 7+ years PQE.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and capability to undertake advocacy, appear in court/at hearings, and engage in the full spectrum of the team’s work.
- Technical proficiency in litigation.
