Iconic Resourcing Accountancy & Finance Division are delighted to be supporting a hugely successful organisation based in Edinburgh, who are currently experiencing an incredible period of growth. As they gear up for further expansion, they are seeking an experienced Payroll & Finance Assistant on either a full or part-time basis, on a hybrid working model.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created role that will play a pivotal part in their expanding operations. As a Payroll & Finance Assistant, you'll be at the heart of the Payroll & Invoicing function within a rapidly growing SME, with the chance to make a real impact as the company transitions to new and innovative systems. Based in the city centre of Edinburgh, with the flexibility of hybrid working, this role offers tailored hours, whether full-time (36.5 hours per week) or part-time (2, 3, or 4 days a week). You’ll report directly to the Business Support Manager and collaborate closely with a dynamic finance team, where key duties will surround:
- Manage and deliver multiple monthly payrolls for around 150+ employees, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines
- Handle multi-currency Pay & Bill, utilising Sage 50 for UK contractor payroll and Microsoft NAV for international payments & billings
- Oversee pension auto-enrolment and liaise with pension providers as needed
- Conduct holiday pay calculations and WPS submissions for UAE contractors
- Address payroll inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, escalating issues when necessary
- Ensure tax compliance, including PAYE & VAT, and manage regulatory reporting requirements, such as submitting reports to HMRC
- Perform PAYE reconciliations, tax year-end processing, and P11D submissions
- Raise and issue monthly sales invoices, including uploading to client portals
- Handle credit control by liaising with clients to ensure timely invoice payments
- Create nominal ledger journals for payroll costs
- Support the Finance team with tasks such as staff expense processing, accounts payable, vendor management, petty cash reconciliation, and data entry
To be successful in this role, the following experience is required:
- Previous experience in a Finance & Payroll role is essential
- In-depth understanding of UK payroll operations, with international experience being a plus
- Proficiency in Excel at an intermediate level is preferred
- Strong organisational, administration, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload, meet tight deadlines, and work well in a team
