Iconic Resourcing are delighted to be working exclusively with Whyte & Mackay, an organisation that has been operating in the heart of Glasgow for over 170 years, to recruit a People Development Lead who will lead, manage, and execute projects as part of delivering their people strategy, including the Management and Leadership Academy.
The Role
The People Development Lead will ensure learning and development initiatives contribute to, and influence, improved performances at an individual, team and organisational level. This role will lead on the design, development and roll-out of an inclusive high-quality digital learning experience. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of people development initiatives. These initiatives should align the identified learning needs with the strategic ambitions, objectives and values of the business and be deliverable both in a face to face and virtual/digital environment.
Partnership with the business is at the core of this role. You’ll actively consult with the HR business partners to understand the Learning and Development needs of the business and then work collaboratively with senior leaders, people managers and third parties to design and implement learning initiatives at both a local level and across the whole organisation, continuously looking for new and exciting ways to drive learning, bringing your own innovative and fresh ideas to the table. You will also be responsible for the ongoing management, evaluation and continuous improvement of the existing learning initiatives and programmes.
Alongside this, you will lead in developing digital learning resources and solutions both functionally specific and business wide. You will work collaboratively to ensure the digital learning is accessible to all employees, ensuring that all digital learning platforms/services and technologies and aligned, complementary and integrated, providing a joined-up learner experience. You will manage content curation, develop structured learning programmes and suggested learning pathways as well as research potential new digital learning technologies to shape and drive the delivery of digital learning across the business. You will also evaluate and source third party content and digital software providers, making suggestions to the business.
You will have a collaborative working style and confidence to manage a wide range of stakeholders, consulting with different areas of the business, bringing everyone on the journey, carefully navigating complexity and ambiguity. You will actively support and coach management teams to support them through cultural change initiatives and ensure that these are aligned to the individual functional needs.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking applications from candidates who have a proven track record of working as an L&D Consultant/Manager or Business Partner with previous experience of end-to-end creation of learning programmes and initiatives, working collaboratively with senior managers and leadership teams. You will have experience of developing digital learning and delivering learning resources to a range of stakeholders, as well as experience of implementing managing and developing and LMS or similar system.
You will have a full understanding and be able to apply adult learning principles when designing and creating individual learning initiatives as well as whole programmes. You will also understand the merits of different learning delivery channels to select an appropriate face to face, blended or digital solutions as well as be up to date with current research and appropriate applications of best practice/best fit solutions and the latest learning practice, trends and emerging thinking.
The successful candidate will have the ability to create learning material as well as evaluate initiatives designed by 3rd parties, be a skilled coach who is able to inspire credibility, competence, respect and authority and a strong communicator who is able to flex on your style to meet the needs of others.
